Welcome to the Web site of the Xavier Society for the Blind. Our redesigned site has been made possible in part by a generous grant from the Order of Malta, and we are most grateful for their care and their support. Please feel free to explore, and share with us your comments and suggestions.

We were founded in 1900, and today we continue to provide spiritual and religious materials to individuals throughout the United States at no charge. We are the National Catholic Lending Library for the Blind, and we have a variety of events and new programs coming up which will expand our ability to help our clients.

  • Karen Keninger Appointed Director of the National Library Service

    Librarian of Congress James H. Billington today announced the appointment of Karen A. Keninger as director of the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS), effective March 26, 2012.  Keninger succeeds Frank Kurt Cylke, who retired from federal service on February 28, 2011.

    conditions, prior to getting to the airport.

  • Wounded Warrior to Win Free Trip to Dallas

    The National Association of Blind Veterans has announced a free lottery for wounded warriors who have lost their sight during Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom. The winner will receive a free trip to Dallas, Texas, to attend the national convention of the NFB, which will take place from June 30–July 5, 2012. There is no charge to enter the lottery.
