The Entrance Procession, led by Manuel Albino

The Entrance Procession, led by Manuel Albino

Continuing a tradition started several years ago, Father John Sheehan celebrated a Mass on December 13 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, celebrating St. Lucy, patron saint of the blind. The entrance procession included young ladies from the St. Lucy Guild, carrying a candle and a statue of the saint, and one wearing the tradition headress with lit candles, as is the custom in many Scandinavian countries. Don Sheetz, one of the volunteers at the Xavier Society for the Blind, was the lector, and Manuel Albino of the XSB staff was the Acolyte. After the Mass, relics of St. Lucy and St. Francis Xavier were available for veneration.
