Volunteer :: Volunteer

The Xavier Society has an active group of volunteers, who help with transcription and braille proofreading, some assist with clerical work, work with braille and audio production and support our work in many different ways. All of these services are donated at our offices in Manhattan, during regular business hours (Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 4:30 PM).

We also have people who cannot get out or who live outside the New York area. If you can proofread online or have computer or artistic skills that can be shared over the Internet, please contact us and introduce yourself. We also have a growing number of volunteers who are reading for us at home, using their home computers or other recording systems. We send them the material, they make the recording according to their schedule, and they send it back to us on the internet. If needed, we provide the program, teach you how to use it , and give you the headset microphones for better clarity.

Since we are actively engaged in creating special events and fund-raising projects, we are always in need of creative people who can help put together a party, a golf outing or a benefit.

If you are interested in joining the fellowship of volunteers who assist the staff in providing this vital ministry, please call, write or e-mail. Fill out the form on this page, or call and ask to speak to Margaret, who will help find the best fit for your talents and experience.
